Operating Systems Tutorial
An Operating System is a layer of software that manages the hardware resources. The hardware resources that need to be managed include the CPU (Central Processing Unit), Hierarchy of memory, IO (Input/Output) Devices and Power Management on the system. Any application program usually requires an Operating system to run.
Let`s take a look at the system in terms of layers.
At the bottom we have the hardware which hosts the above two layers (Operating System and Applications). The operating system acts as an intermediary between programs and the computer hardware. There are varieties of operating system available which includes Microsoft Windows, Linux, OS X, IOS, BSD, and Android..etc.
